DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Western Michigan traveled to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a double-header against Bethune-Cookman College on March 1 and came away with a sweep, 2-1 and 6-0.  Tricia VanDerSlik picked up her first win of the season and Krysten Shumaker remained perfect in the circle.

WMU (6-3) came into the March 1 showdown with B-CC fresh off a split with Stetson and did not show signs of letting up.  The first game was a nail-biter as VanDerSlik (1-2) held the opponent to just one run in a complete game.  Shumaker (4-0) continued her hot start, pitching six scoreless innings in the win.  Kyla Sullivan came in to finish Bethune-Cookman off in the seventh.

Western Michigan has a day off before opening the Sunshine State Tournament against Maryland on March 3.  The Broncos will take the field against the Terrapins at 11:00 a.m. followed by host Florida State at 6:30 p.m.
