Auburn Slips Past Western Michigan, 95-86

Box Score

ST. THOMAS, USVI- In a game that was a tale of two halves, Western Michigan couldn't seem to miss in the first, shooting 71 percent (22-of-31) from the floor. The Broncos led 52-40 at the half and built as much as an 18-point lead, but Auburn answered with 55 points in the second half, slipping past WMU, 95-86, at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

After its stellar shooting performance in the first half, which included going 7-for-9 from beyond the arc, WMU shot just 35.5 percent in the second period and went 0-for-7 from three-point range.

Auburn, on the other hand, saw its 47.1 field-goal percentage rise to 60.6 percent in the second half. Both teams shot just over 53 percent on the afternoon.

Much of the early theatrics were courtesy of WMU's Carrie Moore, who totaled 24 first-half points on 9-of-11 shooting, in which she went a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. Moore ended the day with 32 points, marking the third time this season she has scored 30-plus points in a game.

Lindsey Brown was a force down low for the Broncos, recording 18 points and 12 rebounds, her first double-double of the season. WMU out-scored Auburn in the paint, 41-28.

Tiera DeLaHoussaye also pitched in 14 points for the Broncos.

Leading by 14 with 10:37 remaining, Western Michigan saw Auburn go on a 21-6 run over the next four minutes. Auburn took its first lead since the opening minutes at 6:49 in the second half on a three-point basket by DeWanna Bonner. Bonner led the Tigers with 27 points.

Moore was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 27 points and 4.3 rebounds in three games at the Paradise Jam.

Western Michigan fell to 1-6 on the season, while Auburn improved to 4-2. The Broncos will look to snap their four-game losing streak at the Air Force Classic on Dec. 1 against Texas-Pan American. Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m., ET.
