Thomas Kelley

Thomas Kelley joined the Western Michigan men's basketball program in September of 2018. He concluded his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Broncos in 2021-22.

During his time at Western Michigan, six Broncos have earned All-MAC recognition, including Lamar Norman Jr. earning a spot on the All-MAC Third Team in 2021-22 after becoming the first WMU player to lead the conference in scoring since David Brown in 2013-14. Western Michigan has also had 13 Academic All-MAC selections during his time in Kalamazoo. 

Prior to WMU, Kelley spent two seasons as a graduate manager for the Michigan State men's basketball program under legendary head coach Tom Izzo, where he also worked alongside current Western Michigan head coach Dwayne Stephens. 

Kelley played at Michigan State from 1995-99 and was a part of Izzo's first Final Four team as a fifth-year senior in 1998-99. At MSU, Kelley played in 115 games, averaging 5.3 points and 2.0 assists per game. 

After his collegiate career, Kelley played 15 seasons overseas in Amsterdam, Israel, Turkey, Austria, Hungary and Finland.

A native of Grand, Rapids, Mich., Kelley played prep ball at Grand Rapids Union High School.Â
