Former Bronco golfer Laura Bavaird will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for Western Michigan this fall.  Bavaird recently finished her career in the Brown & Gold, closing out with both the career and single-season scoring average records.  She also shared the single-season record for rounds played as a junior.  Bavaird was a two-time All-Mid-American Conference selection and won three individual titles during her WMU career.

Bavaird started off the fall portion of her senior season with back-to-back wins at the season-opening MAC Preview and again at the Penn State Invitational.  She earned her first collegiate victory at the William & Mary Invitational during the spring of 2007.

The Grosse Ile, Mich., native also showed the winning touch during amateur tournaments, claiming medalist honors at back-to-back Women's Michigan Amateur events during the summers of 2007 and 2008.

Bavaird was also the first Western Michigan golfer to ever earn the MAC Sportswoman of the Year award, garnering the honor at the end of her senior season.
