Sean Hogan was named to the position of volunteer assistant coach, joining head coach Jeff Blashill's first coaching staff at Western Michigan.
Hogan's duties will include the oversight of video capture and break down of game film, presenting and organizing video scouting reports, assist in player development, practice planning, game planning and community service projects. He will also assist in the coordination of team travel and meals.
Most recently, Hogan was the head coach of the Yellowstone Quake Junior A team in the Northern Pacific Hockey League, leading the team to a 33-14-0 record and an America West Divisional Playoff finalist. Prior to his time in Wyoming he was the head coach of Oakland University men's club hockey team from 2005-2009, winning an ACHA National Championship in 2007 and an ACHA Division II National Championship in 2006.
From 2007-2009 he was the Director of the Rochester Hockey Club as well as the coaching director of one of Michigan's largest hockey associations. He also spent time as an instructor with Suburban Hockey Schools, Michigan's longest running hockey school.
Hogan played for Iona College from 1996-98 and was named Iona College Rookie of the Year for he 1996-97 season.
Originally from White Lake, Mich., Hogan, 32 (6/25/1978), graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with a degree in public policy and public administration. He resides in Kalamazoo.
