Sam Little joined the Western Michigan men's basketball program as an assistant coach/video coordinator in May of 2024. The 2025-26 campaign will be his second with the Broncos.Â
During Little's first season, Western Michigan returned to the MAC Tournament, making it back-to-back appearances in Cleveland for the Broncos for the first time since the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. Junior guard Chansey Willis Jr. paced the MAC in both scoring and assists, and was named to the All-MAC Second Team, the program's first Second Team selection since Thomas Wilder in 2016. The Broncos also continued to dominate the glass, leading the league in offensive rebounding for the third straight season. Western Michigan's 13.2 offensive boards per game ranked 24th in NCAA Division I, and its overall average of 37.8 rebounds was second-best in the MAC and 54th in the country. The Brown and Gold led the league with five Academic All-MAC selections, tied for the most in program history, and set new program records with four CSC Academic All-District honorees and seven named to the NABC Honors Court.
Little arrived in Kalamazoo with experience at both the collegiate and prep school levels. Most recently, he spent the 2023-24 season as the video coordinator at Stanford, where he took charge of all video operations for the program, helped scout opponents and assisted with recruiting operations.
Â
Prior to his time with the Cardinal, he was an assistant coach at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif. During the 2022-23 campaign, he was responsible for scouting and player development on both sides of the ball. Before arriving in Napa, Little served a stint as the Director of Basketball Operations at Tarleton State.
Â
Little graduated from the University of Texas in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology – Sport Management, which included a minor in Coaching. While in Austin, he was a four-year manager for the Longhorns.
Â
Following his graduation from UT, Little spent the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas. While with the Razorbacks, he was responsible for live coding practices and games and assisted with scouting of opposing teams.
