A former player and student coach at Minnesota State University, Hass is in her second season at Western Michigan as the director of operations while working on her graduate degree.
Last season, Hass handled team travel, film exchange, video breakdown and oversaw team managers, also assisting in many other facets of the program. She will assume many of the same roles this year. Additionally, Hass coached and directed WMU summer girls’ basketball camps.
Prior to Kalamazoo, Hass completed a four-month internship with Joanne P. McCallie’s staff at Duke. While at Duke, Hass’ duties included managing recruiting, alumni and video databases, as well as organizing scouting material for postseason play.
She gained valuable experience at both the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Tournaments, working alongside members of the tournament selection committee, media and sports information directors. Additionally, she organized the Duke women’s basketball alumni weekend and the retirement ceremony of Lindsey Harding’s jersey. Hass helped plan and participated in the Blue Devils’ community outreach programs.
During her undergrad work, Hass was an intern with Fox Sports Net in Minneapolis assisting in production and coverage of three professional sports teams, the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Lynx.
Adding to her impressive resume, Hass has donned the whistle for AAU teams and during basketball camps at Duke, Tennessee and Geno Auriemma’s girls’ camp at UConn.
A native of Eyota, Minn., Hass was a forward while playing at Minnesota State, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management in May 2008. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in sports management at WMU.
Quoting head coach Tasha McDowell on Hass:
"Lindsey has been impressive since the moment she stepped on campus. We are very fortunate to have someone of Lindsey’s caliber. She has a great personality and a creative mind. She pays attention to the details and will go the extra mile. She is a bright, young, up and coming coach who will help our Bronco program immensely.”
