Jake Gernon

Former Bronco Jake Gernon joined his father Billy's staff as its director of baseball operations in the Summer of 2025. The 2026 season will be his first on staff at his alma mater.

Gernon spent a total of six seasons with the WMU baseball program as a student-athlete after missing out on playing his first two seasons due to COVID-19 and a redshirt campaign. During his time with the Brown and Gold, the right-hander made a total of 49 appearances on the mound, including a pair of starts. Overall, he tallied 29 strikeouts in 45.0 innings, collected three wins and earned his lone collegiate save in a road win at Notre Dame in 2025.

A three-time Academic All-MAC honoree, Gernon made 15 appearances for the 2024 Western Michigan team that won 32 games, its most since 1993, and claimed the second Mid-American Conference Tournament title in program history on the way to making its first appearance in an NCAA Regional since 2016.

Gernon holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from WMU in Sports Management.Â
