Elysia Mattos joined the Western Michigan women's basketball staff as the Director of Operations in the summer of 2025.

Mattos spent the past two years on the staff at Detroit Mercy as a graduate assistant with Head Coach Kate Achter. In her two years on staff with the Titans, Mattos saw the team improve with seasons of a 17-16 record with a #HLWBB Tournament win and a 15-15 record with a first round victory in the Barbasol Horizon League Championship.

Prior to joining Detroit Mercy, Mattos spent three seasons as a women’s basketball student-athlete at Rochester University in Rochester Hills, Michigan. During her career as a player, Mattos started in 71 of 73 total games played finishing as Rochester's All-Time Assist Leader (356) while helping the Warriors earn three National Tournament appearances.

During the 2022-2023 season, Mattos saw action in 26 games with 24 starts averaging 9.7 points per game along with 4.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals earning All-Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Second-Team honors.

In 2021-2022, Mattos started in all 30 games played while leading the team in assists (179) and ranking second in the conference (100). She shot 46.3% from the field, 37.8% from 3-point range, and 75% from the free throw line while recording 138 rebounds, 66 steals, and three blocks. 

Mattos also served on the coaching staff with the 2025 Michigan Mystics AAU Team while helping organize summer camps with PGC basketball and LNBC basketball.

Mattos earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Leadership from Rochester University in 2023. She is the daughter of Karen Mattos and Mike Unger and has two siblings, Juliana and Dominic.
