Kim Moore was hired as the Western Michigan women’s golf head coach on Nov. 11, 2020.
The Broncos have seen steady improvement throughout her tenure. WMU has posted the fifth and third-best team stroke averages with a 308.6 in 2022-23 and a 305.7 in 2023-24. The Broncos also picked up their first team tournament win since 2019, with a top finish at the Butler Spring Break Invite in 2024.
Individually, Megha Vallabhaneni posted the second lowest single round in program history after a 67 at WMU's Rio Verde Invitational in 2024. Vallabhaneni also was the first Bronco to be named All-MAC since 2018 after she was voted a Second Team selection in 2024. Alissa Fish posted the third, fourth and fifth-best rounds under Moore and won EMU's Shirley Spork Invitational in 2021.
Sixteen Broncos have earned Academic All-MAC honors since she took over, with more routinely being named to the WGCA's All-American Scholar list on a yearly basis.
Moore was instrumental in WMU Golf receiving the largest donation to a women's athletic program in Western Michigan history. Jeff and Stephanie Bergeron donated $1.5 million for the construction of the Jeff and Stephanie Bergeron Golf Performance Center, which will be completed in 2024. The facility will be located in the Donald "J" Seelye Athletic Center.
Moore has also been a force on the Disability Golf tour. She helped Team USA win The Cairns Cup, Disability Golf's premiere matchplay tournament that pits USA against Europe, in 2022. She also won the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open in 2022 and finished in second place in 2023 and 2024.
Moore is the fourth head coach in program history after spending seven years at Saint Mary's College (Notre Dame, Ind.). At SMC she coached the Belles to two NCAA Division III Team Championship appearances in 2017 and 2018. Saint Mary's won three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. During the 2018 season they broke the school and league scoring record.
Moore produced one All-American, two All-Region selections and 14 total First Team All-MIAA selections in her coaching career at SMC. Three of her student-athletes also went on to win the league MVP award. The Belles also had tremendous academic success under Moore with 14 total Academic All-Americans.
She earned a degree in biology in 2003 from the University of Indianapolis, where she was a member of the varsity golf program.
