Former Bronco Tara Buchanan joins the Bronco softball coaching staff for the 2016 season.

Originally from La Porte, Ind., Buchanan graduated from Western Michigan University in 2012 with a degree in recreation and played for the Broncos in 2010-2012 after transferring from Kankakee Community College.

Buchanan ranks third all-time in the Bronco record book with 16 career home runs, hitting eight in 2011 and 2012. The eight home runs ties as second most in a single season. She was a First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection at first base as a senios.

At Kankakee, Buchanan was a First Team NJCAA All-American  and a NFCA All-American.

Buchanan also coached the fall season with the Broncos while finishing her degree. In 2014, she coached the Loy Norrix High School varsity softball team and in 2015 was an assistant coach for Kalamazoo College.
