Leitke was named MAC Coach of the Year for the second time, the only Broncos coach to accomplish the feat.
In 2009 Leitke surpassed the 200-win mark at Western Michigan and amassed at least 20 victories for the eighth-straight time in nine seasons at the helm, advancing to the MAC tournament title game for the second time in four years. WMU, which finished the year 25-22 and 16-6 in the MAC, had three all-conference selections with Lexi Jager and Meredith Whitney earning first team and Brittney Reist earning second team accolades.
