WMU Taps MSU's Dwayne Stephens to Lead Men's Basketball Program

Western Michigan University and Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae announced the hiring of Dwayne Stephens as the new head coach of the WMU's men's basketball program.

Stephens was introduced to the WMU and Kalamazoo community on Wednesday, April 6, at a press conference inside University Arena.

Coach Stephens is a great fit for Western Michigan. He has the roots and the connections to recruit the basketball rich state of Michigan extremely well and be highly successful. DJ recruited me and coached me, and I have the utmost respect for him and have a great relationship with him to this day. What the Western Michigan community will find out is what a great person DJ is, how great of a family man he is, and most importantly, how great of a basketball mind he has. He teaches the little nuances of the game that sometimes get overlooked, which goes into building a successful program. He's a basketball genius.
