Wednesday May 6, 2009 and Thursday May 7, 2009
Today we had a great day visiting a homeless shelter and ministering to the people there through song and testimonies. We then spent the afternoon relaxing on the beach at Maracas Bay enjoying the sunshine. It was a great experience this whole week and I just want to leave all who followed our mission trip with some final thoughts.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
As we return to Kalamazoo today I want to thank everyone who followed this web-log of our mission trip on wmubroncos.com. But I think this needs to be said: in no way, shape, or form was this web-log a publicity stunt designed to draw attention to me. When presented with the idea about posting daily entries on the Broncos’ website, I was hesitant and unsure. But after prayer and consulting with our pastor leading the trip, I realized that this was a great opportunity to share my faith with others. Not only that, but it was a great chance to encourage others to give back of their time and resources.
I hope that following this trip has made you think about ways you can share the gifts God has blessed you with. That could be a trip abroad for mission work. But that also could be volunteering once a week in Kalamazoo. The bible tells us in Luke 12:48?“When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.” We are so blessed in the United States. I understand the economic situation right now, but a bad day on Wall Street looks like a great day in Trinidad. Trust me. Give of your time. It will make a difference in people’s lives.
You don’t know how big an impact you can have. Do it!
Thank you again for your prayers and support during this trip. I truly felt it each day. I hope our work blessed you and encouraged you in some way. I’ll plan on seeing you all at our home opener, CommUniverCity Night vs. Miami, Sept. 19 at 7pm.
GO BRONCOS!
