The ZOO History

The ZOO was created in order to influence and attract the WMU Student Body to Bronco Basketball.  The group was established in the fall of 2003, and permanently named “The ZOO” after a student-naming contest in January of 2004.

The ZOO is dedicated to giving Bronco Basketball vital energy and creating an atmosphere that is unmatched throughout the Mid American Conference.  Serving as the emotional sixth man, The ZOO is an intricate part of Bronco Basketball.  With the right energy, an intimidating and difficult environment exists for all opponents that enter University Arena.  The ZOO “Fights on for Western” to support the team to victory!

Other activities sponsored by The Zoo include: Watch Parties, exclusive rights to The ZOO Members Only section, and a bus trip to a conference opponent game.
