CLEVELAND -- Western Michigan football's
Blake Bosma and track & field's Mabinity Kebe have been named WMU's 2026 Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence Award recipients.
The pair will be presented with the award on Thursday, May 29 at the 2026 MAC Honors Dinner Ceremony at the Cleveland Hotel.Â
The Medal of Excellence is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the 13 Conference member institutions. To receive the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes must have participated at the varsity level in a Conference-sponsored sport, maintained a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and demonstrated excellence in athletics, leadership, and service. Honorees are selected by their respective institutions.
Bosma recently wrapped up his playing career by helping the Broncos win the program's fourth MAC Championship and its third-ever bowl victory in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. The Holland, Mich., native went from being a walk-on in 2021 to being one of the most prolific pass-catching tight ends in program history. Bosma was named Third Team All-MAC in 2024 after a career-year with 37 receptions for 403 yards and six touchdowns. He finished his career with 102 total catches for 1,110 yards and 10 touchdowns.Â
Bosma was also a stellar performer in the classroom, earning Academic All-MAC honors four times. He was also a three-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. Bosma earned a degree in Food Marketing from the Haworth College of Business and is working on his MBA.Â
Since joining Western Michigan's track and field program in 2024, Kebe has done nothing but produce championships. She is a three-time outdoor MAC Champion in the 400-meter hurdles and a three-time NCAA East Preliminaries qualifier. With her championship race in 2026, Kebe became the first Bronco to win three MAC titles since Victoria Chatman (2012, 2010, 2009). In her three-year career, Kebe has been selected as an All-MAC honoree four times (2024 x2, 2025, 2026).
She's also dominant in the classroom, maintaining a 3.92 GPA in her Mindfulness and Centering graduate program. Throughout her WMU career, she's collected various academic awards, including three Academic All MAC selections and one CSC Academic All-District honor. She already holds a bachelor's in health and human services and a minor in psychology, while graduating Magna Cum Laude.Â
