CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards with
Ashton Adesoro earning Singles Player of the Week and
Alex Antonopoulos and
Oscar Corwin earning Doubles Team of the Week.
Adesoro had to battle to three-set wins in both matches playing in the No. 1 position in WMU's wins over Buffalo and Toledo. Coming from behind against the Bulls down a set, he battled back to win in three sets and clinch the win for the Broncos, 4-3. Against Toledo, Adesoro found himself in a similar situation against Hanamichi Carvajal. He split sets with the match on the line and came through with a hard-fought victory, securing the win for the Broncos, 4-3, over the Rockets.
Adesoro is currently 20-11 on the season, playing mainly in the No. 1 position for the Gold and Brown.
Antonopoulos and Corwin helped WMU clinch the doubles point in both matches. Both matches were vitally important in securing wins for the Broncos and helping Western secure hard-fought wins over both the Bulls and Rockets, 4-3. The duo are currently 18-4 on the season.
