bbbbbbbbbbThe Western Michigan men's tennis team opened the Spring Season with a 7-0 win over Grand Valley State and a 6-1 win over Chicago State at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday.
The Bronco opened the day with the sweep of the Lakers. WMU won all three doubles matches. Alex Antonopolous and
Oscar Corwin earned a 6-3 win over Lawrence Ivanov and Patricio Sepulveda at No. 1. Asthon Adesoro and
Jack Davison defeated Bora Bakici amd Stephen Claassenn 6-1 at No. 2.
Drew Evans and
Chen-Hui Ho closed things out with a 6-4 win over Denys Zamaralev and Santiago Castellanos.
Adesoro, Ho, Davison,
Dimitri Moriarty and
Jonas Keck all earned 2-set wins. Corwin had a three-set win over Sepulveda, as well.
Against the Cougars, the Broncos started with an advantage in doubles because CSU was only able to field two teams. Adesoro/Davison and Evans/Ho picked up the wins and the doubles point for WMU.
WMU was up 2-0 after the doubles point and the Cougars not fielding a player at No. 6 singles. Ho, Davison, Moriarty and Keck all earned wins, with the Broncos dropping a point at No. 2 singles.
Western Michigan hosts Wayne State on Saturday at 1 p.m. before heading to Notre Dame on Monday for matches against Duquesne and the Fighting Irish.
