KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team started off is Spring Season with a 7-0 win over Chicago State at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday.
The match was also the first career victory for interim head coach
Stephen Payne.
The Broncos got things rolling by taking the doubles point.
Lola Glantz and Marielou Badouin picked up a 6-2 win at No. 2 over Mackenzie King and Nikita Liyanage.
Sienna Osborne and
Julia Frazier clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Danina Hughes and Nadjema Morille.
Frazier made it 2-0 by making quick work of Morille at No. 6 singles, winning both sets 6-0. Baudouin pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 over Hughes, before
Audrey Smitek clinched the match victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 over King. Osborne, Glantz and then
Frida Weijerman finished off the rest of the Cougars for the sweep.
The Broncos are back in action on Sunday morning at Notre Dame.
