CLEVELAND -- Western Michigan softball's
Payton Kelly and
Tristen Head have been tabbed as First Team All-Mid-American Conference as voted by the league's coaches and announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Kelly, a senior, repeats as a first team selection, having played in and started 25 of the team's 27 MAC games in the outfield. Was the MAC's top hitter, leading the conference with a .450 average in conference play. She hit five home runs, five doubles and two triples for a .750 slugging percentage that ranked sixth in the MAC, while driving in 20 runs. Her OPS of 1.227 was fourth in the conference. Kelly also only stuck out twice in 80 at-bats.
Head, a junior, earns the honors for the first time in her career as a utility player. Head played in 26 of the 27 MAC games, spending time at catcher, first base, in right field and as the designated player. She hit .395, driving in 15 RBIs on eight doubles, four home runs and 32 total hits. She also was second on the team in runs scored in conference play with 14. Head had a .642 slugging percentage and a 1.062 OPS.
