MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team clinched a spot in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament after picking up a 4-3 road win at Ball State on Saturday afternoon.
DOUBLES
The Broncos (15-9, 5-3 MAC) started off strong by capturing the doubles point on wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Anton Arzhankin and
Oscar Corwin picked up a 6-3 win over Nathaniel Webster and Broc Fletcher at No. 3. The point was secured after
Brogan Pierce and
Drew Evans won at No. 1, 7-5, over Jacks Lancaster and Drew Hayward
SINGLES
Weather interrupted singles play halfway through, and the matches had to be finished indoors. Pierce pushed WMU's lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Hayward at No. 4.
Ashton Adesoro made it 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lancaster at No. 2. The Cardinals got on the board after Sanjin Smith defeated Anton Antonopoulos 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. Arzhankin secured the match victory after defeating Webster at No. 1 7-6 (7-2), 6-1.
Western Michigan returns to action next Thursday and Saturday. The Broncos host UIC on Thursday at 1 p.m. and then welcome NIU for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
