Rissa Bajusz Earns MAC Pitcher of the Week Honors


CLEVELAND – Western Michigan softball senior pitcher Rissa Bajusz has been named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Bajusz's Pitcher of the Week selection marks her second career MAC Pitcher of the Week title of her career.  
 
This past weekend, Bajusz would only allow two earned runs in 18 innings pitched. The senior posted a strikeouts vs innings pitched ratio of 34:18 for an average of 1.89 strikeouts per inning average. Most notably, while pitching in WMU's three games this week, the senior would post a 12-strikeout performance against Quinnipiac on Sunday, March 3. During her 12-strikeout game, Bajusz only conceded one walk. Additionally, Bajusz helped WMU earn two wins over Monmouth and Sacred Heart. 

As of Tuesday afternoon, Bajusz is ranked first in the MAC in a plethora of categories including: First in earned run average (0.93 ERA), opposing batting average (.183), batters struck out (73), batters struck out looking (21), total runs allowed (11), and total earned runs allowed (6).  

Additionally, on the year, Bajusz's 11.4 strikeouts per seven innings ranks fourth in the entire NCAA landscape. 

Bajusz and the rest of the Broncos will continue play tomorrow, Wednesday, March 6, at 2:00 PM versus Sacred Heart and 4:30 PM versus Florida Gulf Coast. Game one will be streamed on FloSports, while game two will be streamed on ESPN+.
