KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team picked up its fourth-straight win after sweeping Purdue Northwest, 7-0, at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday afternoon.
DOUBLES
The Broncos secured the doubles point after wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Lindsey Zieglar and Valeriya Monko gave WMU the advantage with a 6-2 win at No. 1 over Sienna Lopez and Regina Rioja, while Polina Khotko and Ariane Souligny put the Broncos ahead with a 6-1 win at No. 3 over Salma Raslan and Hayley Tsuen
SINGLES
Every Bronco earned their match wins in two sets. Ziegler defeated Lopez at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Monko beat Oona Kintscher 6-1, 6-0, while Khotko won at No. 2 over Daniela Rubio 6-1, 6-2. Souligny picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rioja at No. 4, while Audrey Smitek won 6-1, 6-0 against Raslan. Maya Perkucin picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win in her first singles action of the season at No. 6 over Hayley Tsuen.
The Broncos head to East Lansing on Saturday to take on the Spartans at 12 p.m.
