AKRON, Ohio. – The Western Michigan softball team was edged in two games on Sunday, falling to the Zips 1-0 in game one and 4-2 in the second.

In game one, Akron's Alexa DiFeo held the Broncos to just one hit while tossing a complete game with six strikeouts. Akron tallied the lone run of the contest in the bottom of the second, the Zips got a runner home on a ground out to second base.
Western Michigan's best scoring opportunity came in the top of the fifth. Boxwell singled to right field to get on base but the Broncos were unable to bring her around the infield.
Senior
Autumn Godwin started in the circle for Western Michigan and tossed 3.2 innings. She allowed three hits and one earned run.
Rissa Bajusz pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one hit while posting two strikeouts.
WMU's defense posted five scoreless innings against the Zips and allowed just four hits.
Gerlach drove in both runs against Akron in game two with a double to center field in the top of the second with Boxwell on base from a single to center and
Payton Kelly from a walk.
Akron answered in the bottom of the second with one run and added three in the fifth, sealing the win as WMU was unable to complete the rally.
Bajusz pitched the complete six innings allowing four hits and four runs. She tossed nine strikeouts and retired the Zips in three different innings.
Looking ahead, Western Michigan hosts Ball State University at Ebert Field for a three-game MAC series on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 11-12.
