KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team snapped a four-match losing streak with an emphatic 7-0 win over Illinois State at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday afternoon.
WMU (4-5) made quick work of ISU to earn the doubles point. Fynn Lohse and Anton Arzhankin picked up the first win at No. 1, 6-1, over Tin Ostro and Emiliano Gonzales. The doubles point was clinched by Peter Kuszynski and Ferdinand Schlueter, who defeated Arvid Hjalte and Melker Isaksson, 6-3, at No. 1. The Broncos made the clean sweep of doubles after Brogan Pierce and Benjamin George defeated Dominic Anderson and Dominick Curchan, 6-4, at No. 3.
Pierce pushed WMU's lead to 2-0 with a quick win at No. 6 over Curchan, 6-2, 6-4. Arzhankin put the Broncos ahead, 3-0, with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Isaksson at No. 2. Senior Arjun Honnappa clinched the victory with a win at No. 4 over Adrian Dibildox 7-5, 6-2. George then picked up his sixth dual-match win of the season, defeating Hjalte 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1. Lohse and Kuszynski then wrapped up the sweep with three-set wins at No. 5 and No. 3.
The Broncos are back on the road next Friday to take on Michigan State at 5 p.m.
