LINCOLN, Neb. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team fell on the road at Nebraska, 4-1, on Friday evening.

The Broncos (1-1) started off strong by earning the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Lindsey Zieglar and Valeriya Monko made quick work of Raphaelle Lassase and Ana Zamburek in a 6-0 win at No. 1 to put WMU ahead. Kaitlyn Rogosch and Maya Perkucin lost a tight battle, 7-6 (7-1), at No. 3 to even things up but Karin Hamilton and Audrey Smitek pulled out the clutch win to secure the point at No. 2, 7-5, over Samantha Alicea and Ansfisa Danilchenko.

That was the lone point the Broncos would score, as WMU fell in four of the six singles matches, with two going unfinished. Perkucin and Ariane Souligny pushed their opponents to three sets, while Monko and Audrey Smitek fell in two.

The Broncos are back at it on Saturday morning against Utah State, in Lincoln, at 11 a.m. ET.
