OXFORD, Ohio – Western Michigan softball dropped the series the finale against the Miami RedHawks this afternoon by a final score of 8-0 after a two-hour rain delay in the buckeye state. The result moves the Broncos to 14-22 on the season, and 4-7 against Mid-American Conference foes.

Miami (21-12, 12-2 MAC) got off to a hot start on their home field today, tallying three runs in the bottom of the game's initial frame. That would be the difference in the Monday matinee as the Broncos were unable to get on the board, while MU added insurance runs in each of the remaining four innings.

Despite a tough day as a team, senior infielder Jordyn Swinehart went a perfect 2-2 at the plate, singling in the top of inning number one and roping a double to left field in the WMU side of the third. Unfortunately, Swinehart was unable to cross the dish to get her team a run, and went as one of Western Michigan's three runners left on base.

The Broncos will look to bounce back from the tough weekend on Wednesday, when they head to East Lansing for a showdown with the Michigan State Spartans. First pitch from Secchia Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m., and will be available for streaming via B1G+. Live scoring will also be available for the contest.

WMU's next home contest is set for this coming Friday, April 15 when the visiting Akron Zips come to town for a single game at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader begging at 1 p.m. the next day.
