TOLEDO, Ohio – The Western Michigan men's tennis team rebounded with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory at Toledo on Sunday.
The Broncos were down 3-2 and in position to drop back-to-back MAC matches for the first time since 2014. Both
Fynn Lohse and
Peter Kuszynski were locked in their third sets with their counterparts. Lohse went on to defeat Krystof Wetoszka 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to tie the match up at 3-3. Kuszynski was trailing Adam Kovac at No. 2 in the third set but rebounded to win 7-5 to clinch the match for WMU with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory overall.
Western Michigan earned all four of its points in singles play, with
Arjun Honnappa and Ben George also picking up wins. After the Rockets won the doubles point Marko Galic pushed their lead to 2-0 with a win at No. 6 over
Brogan Pierce. Honnappa then cut the lead in half with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 over Cole Schultz. George tied it up with a win at No. 5 over Luka Jankovic 6-3, 6-4 before Pawit Sornlaksup gave Toledo the lead back with a win at No. 1 over
Anton Arzhankin.
Western Michigan closes out the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday at Northern Illinois at 3 p.m. If the A win gives WMU the Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship.
