Galloway Earns MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference named Western Michigan senior pitcher Reily Galloway as MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week after three strong performances in the circle against Notre Dame and Toledo. During her impressive run, Galloway registered 31 total strikeouts, including 18 against Toledo on March 19.

Galloway earned just three runs last week, and sent 29 total Toledo hitters down on strikes across a three-game span, while walking just six hitters in three games. For the week, Reily posted an earned run average of 1.17 and held opposing hitters to an average of .197. Her 18 K performance this past Friday against UT is also second most in Western Michigan program history, trailing Bonni Kinne's record from 1982 by just a single strikeout.

Reily currently ranks second in the Mid-American Conference and 18th nationally in total strikeouts with 118 this season. Galloway also ranks second across the MAC in earned run average (1.68) and K's per seven innings, while also coming in at 38th nationwide in strikeouts per seven innings, retiring an average of 9.9 opposing batters on strikes each time she gets the pitching nod.

So far this year, Galloway has registered all 118 strikeouts while walking just 27 opposing batters. She has also gone the distance for complete games on 10 of her 12 starts across a total of 83.1 innings pitched, including 3 shutouts this season as well. Reily and the rest of the Broncos are at Michigan this afternoon for a 4 p.m. first pitch, and return home to Ebert Field next on Tuesday, April 5 to take on Bowling Green. First pitch against the Falcons is scheduled for 3 p.m.
