Broncos Wrap Up Bradley Pink Classic

PEORIA, Ill. – The Western Michigan cross country team wrapped up its final meet before the Mid-American Conference Championships, taking 24th at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon.

WMU's top finisher was Kayla Schiera, finishing in 22nd place after a 6k time of 20:50.4

"Today we had a few personal-best times, but overall I think we can learn from this race," said interim head coach Kevin Cataldo. "We can do a better job of staying present in the race and competing rather than just participating. This was the largest and deepsest field we have been in all year and will be helpful come the NCAA Regional meet."

Senior Annalise James was the Broncos' second finisher, taking 79th with a time of 21:52.5. Katelyn Spooner (22:34.9), Maddie Zarembski (23:43.2) and Maggie Raab (23:51.1) rounded out WMU's top five.

"Not racing our full lineup hurt us in the team score, but I'm hopeful we will have everyone ready for the MAC Championships," added Cataldo. "We're going to take the next two weeks to make some adjustments and prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the championship portion of the season."

The 2022 MAC Championships take place at Ohio University on Saturday, Oct. 29.
