BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Logan Carter homered in game one and contributed RBI in both games as the Western Michigan softball team was swept in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Bowling Green. The Falcons took the first game, 3-1, before rallying to win the nightcap, 4-3.
| Game One
Mackenzie Swinehart was 2-for-3 in the opener, but the lone Bronco run came on the solo home run from Carter.
Autumn Godwin took the loss, allowing three earned runs in 4.2 innings.
Sydney Stefanick threw 1.1 shutout innings allowing two hits. Bowling Green got RBI from Madi McCoy, Sarah Gonzalez and Payton Hamm. Peyton Dolejs was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Payton Gottshall picked-up a complete-game victory, limiting WMU to three hits in seven innings.
The game was scoreless until the fourth when Carter homered to right to give WMU a 1-0 lead. The Falcons then used a three-run fifth to decide the game. Gonzalez tied the game with a sacrifice fly before Hamm delivered an RBI single. McCoy capped the inning with a bases loaded walk, scoring Hamm, to make it 3-1.
| Game Two
Courtney Farrish went 2-for-4 with two RBI in he nightcap, while
Kaylen Glenfield went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Carter added another RBI.
Rissa Bajusz got the start and allowed three runs in 1.1 innings, while
Reily Galloway took the loss conceding just one run and four hits over the final 4.2 innings. The Falcons were paced by a 2-for-2 performance from Dolejs, who scored twice. Gonzalez and Hamm each went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Hannah Davies got the win, allowing seven hits and three runs with six strikeouts. Gottshall worked around a seventh-inning walk to record the save.
WMU jumped out to a quick lead, scoring twice in the first on a pair of RBI singles from Farrish and Carter. The Broncos added another run in the second when Farrish plated Glenfield on an RBI double. The lead was short-lived, as Bowling Green tied the game in the bottom of the second. The Falcons scored their first run when Gonzalez drew a bases-loaded walk. Hamm followed with an RBI single before Greta L'Esperance drew another bases-loaded walk to tie the game, 3-3.
It remained tied until the sixth when Dolejs came around to score thanks to a Bronco throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Logan Everett.
