Galloway Pitches Broncos To Split With Toledo

Senior threw a complete-game victory in game two of the doubleheader

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Reily Galloway's complete-game victory earned the Western Michigan softball team a doubleheader split with Toledo on Tuesday afternoon at Ebert Field. The Rockets took the opener, 6-1, before the Broncos flipped the script and won game two, 6-1.

After Toledo took the first game, Galloway went the distance in game two while holding the Rockets to one run on five hits in the victory. Game two also saw Mackenzie and Jordyn Swinehart combine to go 6-for-6.

| Game One

Logan Carter went 2-for-3 while Jordyn Swinehart was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Courtney Farrish went 1-for-3 with a run scored as the Broncos dropped game one, 6-1. Sydney Stefanick doubled at the plate and took the loss in the circle, allowing three earned runs in six innings of work.

Toledo got a complete-game win from Erin Hunt. She limited WMU to one earned run and six hits in seven innings of work to earn her 19th victory of the season. Aleah Marrah and Lauren Erickson each had three-hit games while Erickson drove in four runs. Macey Moore and Jenna Kroll added RBI for the visitors.

Jordyn Swinehart gave WMU a 1-0 lead in the second, singling to score Farrish. Toledo responded with a three-run fourth, keyed by Erickson's two-run double.

Erickson extended the lead in the fifth with another two-run double before Kroll delivered an RBI single in the seventh to provide the final margin of 6-1.

| Game Two

Mackenzie and Jordyn Swinehart each went 3-for-3 in the nightcap. Mackenzie scored twice and knocked in a run while Jordyn scored twice. Alyssa Kramer had a two-run single and Kaylen Glenfield went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Galloway was outstanding in the circle while also drawing a walk at the plate. The senior pitcher held Toledo to five hits in seven innings, striking out seven while issuing three walks. The Rockets didn't find the scoreboard until the sixth.

WMU scored first again in the nightcap, as an error on a bunt single by Stefanick allowed Mackenzie Swinehart to score. Glenfield made it 2-0 in the second with an RBI single to score Jordyn Swinehart.

WMU doubled the lead thanks to another bunt single and error. Mackenzie Swinehart laid down a bunt single to score Sophia Ehlers. A throwing error on the play allowed Jordyn Swinehart to score and make it 4-0. The Broncos added two more on a single up the middle by Kramer, scoring Mackenzie Swinehart and Glenfield to make it 6-0.

Toledo got its lone run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Lauren Erickson.
