CLEVELAND – For the final time of the regular season, the Western Michigan Men's Tennis team has earned a Mid-American Conference weekly award with junior
Peter Kuszynski capturing MAC Singles Player of the Week.
The chance to win the MAC Championship outright came down to Kuszynski's battle at No. 2 singles with Northern Illinois' Kristopher Ortega on Saturday. The match was tied at 3-3 and the Kuszynski and Ortega were in their third set after Ortega won the first one 6-4 and Kuszynski rebounded on the second one 6-3. The junior finished off Ortega 6-4 in the final set to give WMU its 26th MAC Regular Season Championship in program history and secure the NCAA Tournament automatic berth.
This is the second Singles Player of the Week honors for Kuszynski this season, also earning it back on March 24 after wins over Buffalo and Binghamton.
