KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team wrapped up hosting the Vredevelt Invitational at Sorensen Courts on Sunday.
Freshman Anton Arzhankin and sophomore Brogan Pierce were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Notre Dame's Yu Zhang was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The teams completed the second and third rounds of singles action and the third and final round of doubles play.
In the second round of singles Fynn Lohse, Pierce, Peter Kuszynski, Arjun Honnappa, Benjamin George and Arzhankin all claimed victories. In the third round it was Pierce, Ferdinand Schlueter, Jackson Boone and Arzhankin all earned wins. Arzhankin, making his first appearance with the Broncos this season went 3-0 in singles play, as did Pierce.
In doubles play it was the team of Kuszynski and Arzhankin defeating Huete and Michael from Butler, while Boone and Honnappa defeated the duo of Staiger and Chatras from Cleveland State.
The Broncos have next week off before heading back to East Lansing for the ITA Regionals Oct. 20-24.
