Men's Tennis Earns Three Wins on First Day of Beeman/Drobac Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team picked up three wins in the opening day of the Beeman/Drobac Invitational at Michigan State University on Friday.
 
In doubles action Benjamin George and Joaquin Caballer defeated Michigan State's Portnoy and Matsuno 6-2, but ended up falling in the second round to Malkowski and Conklin from Notre Dame by the same score. Also winning in the doubles first round was Brogan Pierce and Jackson Boone, 6-4, over Illinois' Guzaukas and Petrov.
 
The lone singles win came by Caballer, who continues his hot start to the season, defeating Matsuno 6-2, 2-6, 10-0. He advances to the second round of singles play on Saturday.
 
The Broncos return to action on Saturday for day two of the invitational.
