Broncos Take Two Points from #16 Michigan in Loss

Box Score ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Western Michigan men's tennis was defeated on the road against #16 Michigan by a final score of 4-2 on Saturday night.

The Wolverines gained an early 3-0 advantage, earning the doubles point and singles victories from Mattias Siimar and Nick Beaty.

The Broncos then cut the Michigan lead to one, with sophomore Peter Kuszynski defeating Connor Johnston at #3 singles, and freshman Rodrigo Crespo prevailing at #5 singles over Harrison Brown.

Nationally ranked Andrew Fenty clinched the win for the Wolverines, beating senior Jannik Opitz in three sets at #1 singles. 

Kuszynski has now won two consecutive singles matches for the Broncos and improved his dual season record to 5-3 on the evening. Crespo, a native of San Jose, Costa Rica, is now 3-3 in singles for the 2020 dual campaign. 

Western Michigan will face another Big Ten opponent on Friday, when they travel to East Lansing for a match with Michigan State at 6 p.m.
