Kaylen Glenfield Named MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its Male and Female Scholar Athletes Wednesday, March 31, with Kaylen Glenfield representing Western Michigan Softball.

The junior outfielder from Garden City, Mich., slashed .615/.615/.923 with a home run, double, and five runs batted in as WMU went 2-1 March 27-29, falling at Notre Dame prior to opening conference play with a pair of wins at the University of Akron. Glenfield recorded the game-winning RBI during WMU's 4-3 comeback win in game one versus the Zips and led the Broncos in game two going 5-for-6 at the plate while WMU tallied a school record 22 hits.

In the classroom, Glenfield maintains a 3.98 GPA majoring in human resource management. She is one of three Broncos to have started in all 24 games this season and shares the team lead with 30 hits.

The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
