CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan gymnastics team had seven student-athletes selected Academic All-Mid-American Conference, as released by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Rachel Binkley (3.74, dietetics), Taylor Buis (3.77 sport management), Katie Jennings (3.60, biomedical sciences), Amelia Mohler (3.90, psychology), Alexis Olivier (3.78, occupational therapy), Morgan Spence (3.82, interdisciplinary health services), and Rachael Underwood (3.96) all earned the honors.
For Oliver and Spence it was the first time they were eligible to be selected. Binkley, Buis, Jennings, Mohler and Underwood were all repeat honorees. Binkley, Jennings and Underwood all wrap up their careers earning the honors for the third time.
