KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team is set to host a non-conference match versus Drake University on Sunday, March 10 inside West Hills Athletic Club. The contest is scheduled to begin with doubles at 10 a.m.

Western Michigan earned its third-straight victory last Thursday, Feb. 28, defeating Valparaiso 4-3 at West Hills Athletic Club. After going up 3-0, the Broncos fended away a Valpo comeback as
Jannik Opitz clinched the win with a three-set win at the No. 1 singles spot.Â
OPITZ AND NOUCHI NAMED MAC DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK
The Broncos top doubles pair of
Jannik Opitz and
Kennosuke Nouchi received their second Mid-American Conference doubles accolade of the year after clinching the doubles point in a tie-breaker versus Valpo. The duo earned the MAC doubles award Feb. 20 as well after going 2-0 versus Wichita State and No. 22 Minnesota.Â
ABOUT DRAKE
The Bulldogs dropped their third-straight match on Friday, falling 4-3 at the University of Iowa to move their overall record to 11-7 on the season. The previous weekend, Drake battled tough competition during losses to No. 44-ranked Wichita State and No. 17 Minnesota. The Bulldogs are unbeaten during conference play in the Summit League with wins over Illinois State, Omaha, North Dakota, and Oral Roberts. Western Michigan faced drake last season in Des Moines, Iowa, falling 4-3.
ON THE HORIZON
Saturday's match versus Drake marks the final non-conference match for Western Michigan until March 31. The Broncos open Mid-American Conference competition March 15-16 in Muncie, Ind., taking on Ball State and Northern Illinois.Â
