DEXTER, Mich. – The Western Michigan cross country team wrapped up its final meet of the regular season, competing at the Eastern Michigan University Fall Classic on Friday afternoon.
The Broncos ran five athletes to solidify its nine-runner field for next Saturday's Mid-American Conference Championship at Northern Illinois.
Haley Ritsema was WMU's top finisher in the unscored meet, running a 5k time of 19:35.6. Olivia VandePol was the second finisher for the Broncos, running a time of 19:51.6. Chartlotte Ramser ran a time of 20:49.8, while Kailyn Mince finished at 20:54.7 and Mary Raclawski finished right behind her at 20:55.5.
"It was a tough, muddy and real cross country course," said assistant coach Tony Filipek. "I thought that everyone gave an honest effort and, overall, we had good performances across the board."
The MAC Championship women's race starts at 12 p.m.
