KALAMAZOO, Mich.- For the second-straight week and the third time this season, Western Michigan senior Allyson Kus was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week.

Kus had a 3-0 record this week and a 0.67 ERA, propelling Western Michigan to three conference victories. The wins moved the Broncos into first place in the MAC West with a 9-4 league record.

Kus threw complete games in all three contests, giving her 15 complete games for the season. She totaled 12 strikeouts.

On Wednesday, she hurled a shutout in a 6-0 victory over rival Central Michigan. Friday she allowed just one earned run in a 4-3 comeback win at Northern Illinois. After trailing 3-0, the Broncos scored two runs in each of their final two at bats to pull ahead and Kus closed the door in the bottom of the seventh, retiring the Huskies in order with a strikeout and a pair of ground balls to end the game.

After picking up the victory Friday, Kus returned to the pitcher's circle to post another win in game one Saturday, a 7-4 Bronco victory in which she also allowed just one earned run.

Kus is 7-0 in her last seven starts and has a 13-9 overall, 7-1 MAC record on the year. She leads the conference with a 1.40 ERA in league play.
