Golf Heads to Las Vegas for the Jackrabbit Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan golf team resumes action this weekend at the Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev., at the 2017 Jackrabbit Invitational hosted by South Dakota State.

WMU will take on CSU-Bakersfield, North Dakota State, Northern Michigan, Seton Hall, South Dakota and host SDSU. The Broncos will play 36 holes on Friday, followed by the final 18 on Saturday. The course measures out at 6,146 yards and is a par 72. Of the field, the Broncos hold the second-highest NCAA ranking at 149, according to GolfStat.com. South Dakota State is the top-ranked team in the field at 72.

"We are looking forward to this weekend's tournament," said head coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. With a good competitive field and more desert golf, we are excited to continue to build on our process. Being out here a few days early will give us practice ahead of the first round."

WMU was last in action at the Rio Verde Invitational. The Broncos hosted the tournament and used a  strong charge in the final two rounds to finish in eighth place. Overall the season has been successful under Swartout-Mosher's guidance in her first year as head coach. Western Michigan has had individual medalists in two tournaments, the Rocket Classic and the Silverlake Shootout, and finished in the top five in six of its seven tournaments.

WMU will wrap up the month of March down at the John Kirk Panther Invitational hosted by Georgia State on March 26-28.
