Elise Swartout-Mosher

Elise Swartout-Mohser was named the head women’s golf coach on Sept. 16, 2016, becoming the program’s third head coach and the first alum to lead the program in its 18-year history.

In her first season as head coach, Swartout-Mosher led the team to one of its best ever. The team posted its lowest team stroke average in program history at 304.5. WMU finished eight of its tournaments in the top five, including two second place finishes and five third place finishes. The Broncos also took two individual medalists spots on the season. Junior Julia Champion won the Rocket Classic and Champion and teammate Jasmine Chee tied for first at the Silver Lake Shootout. Under Swartout-Mosher Chee went on to be named to the MAC All-Tournament team after finishing tied for fifth and the team finished tied for third. Champion, Claire Hernandez, Kaitlyn Watkins and Anna Wilcoxson also garnered Academic All-MAC honors. 

Swartout-Mosher spent the 2015-16 season with Nova Southeastern University as an assistant coach for the Sharks’ women’s team. At NSU she helped the team to two top-5 finishes at the Division II National Championships and a Regional Championship. Prior to coaching she spent three years playing on the Symetra Tour, the Suncoast Ladies Series and the Canadian Women’s Tour, winning the 2013 Phil Kosin Illinois Women’s Open.  

As a student-athlete she was twice named All-Mid-American Conference, including in 2009-10 season when she became the second player in program history to earn First Team All-MAC honors. During that season she set a then program record for lowest average in a single-season at 75.7. Swartout-Mosher also earned Academic All-MAC honors during her senior season.

The Ann Arbor, Mich., native earned a degree in business administration from the WMU Haworth College of Business and a MBA from Nova Southeastern’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business & Entrepreneurship in 2016. 

Swartout-Mosher and her husband Derek reside in Kalamazoo.
