STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up day one at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle's Landing Golf Club on Sunday.
The Broncos combined to shoot a 315 (+27) and head into the second round tied for 11th. Junior Julia Champion was WMU's top finisher on the day, shooting a 77 (+5) and sits tied for 33rd. Champion finished the round tied for sixth in pars with 12 and tied for seventh in par three scoring at E.
"As a team we did not have our best start to the tournament," said head coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. "Individually the girls learned a lot. We continue to talk about process, and how wen we are our best selves the results will come. Tomorrow is another opportunity to do that."
Freshman Jasmine Chee finished right behind Champion with a 78 (+6) and is tied for 40th. Claire Hernandez (79), Kaitlyn Watkins (81) and Anna Wilcoxson (82) rounded out WMU's finishers on the day.
