STOCKBRIDGE, Ga., -- The Western Michigan golf team heads to Georgia for the 24th annual John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State, beginning on Sunday.

WMU looks to continue its strong season with Mid-American Conference Championships just a month away on April 21-23. The Broncos will battle against the host Panthers, Appalachian State, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, Kansas State, Murray State, Oral Roberts, South Alabama, Tulsa, UAB, UL Monroe, Western Carolina and Winthrop. The tournament takes place at Eagle's Landing Country Club and the course is a par-72 and measures out at 6,033 yards.

Kansas State is the top-ranked school at the tournament with a GolfStat rank of 51. Murray State is the only other school ranked in the top 100 at 85. Western Michigan is the fifth-highest ranked team in the field with a ranking of 143.

"We are excited to be here in Georgia," said head coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. "It's a great field and course that sets up well for us. We are looking forward to building off the things we have been working on in practice."

Last season the Broncos finished in third place at the tournament, after shooting a three-round score of 904. Western Michigan starts competition at 9:15 a.m.
