CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Western Michigan softball team split its two games at the USF Under Armour Series Saturday. The Broncos defeated Holy Cross in a 15-0 run rule before falling 3-2 in extra innings to Yale University and ending their four-game winning streak.

The Broncos had their bats cracking in game one against Holy Cross scoring 15 runs on 12 hits including one home run from redshirt junior
Marlee Wilson. Western Michigan got off to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as senior third baseman
Kelsea Cichocki drove in
Ivy Schaaf on a sac fly. WMU scored five more runs in the third and added seven in the fourth. The Broncos capped the game with two runs in the fifth.Â
Cichocki led all Broncos batting three-for-three with three RBI's while
Mackenzie Swinehart and Schaaf went a perfect two-for-two. Junior transfer pitcher
Holly VanTilburg earned her second win of the season going 3.0 innings allowing just one hit and struck out two.Â
Sophomore pitcher
Jordan Kurth pitched a complete game during game two against Yale as the Broncos fell 3-2 in extra innings. The lefty allowed six hits for three runs while striking out five Bulldogs and walking three. Yale's pitcher Jerpbak struck out eight Broncos during the day while Efflandt earned the win, pitching in extra innings.Â
Yale took a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. With two outs and the bases loaded, Swinehart walked as short stop
Jenna Faultersack walked across home plate tying the ball game as the teams headed into extras. The Bulldogs took the victory in the eighth with a double to left center sealing the victory. Schaaf and Swinehart earned RBI's in game two for the Broncos.Â
Western Michigan (11-11) finishes its 12-game Florida trip tomorrow in its final game of the USF Under Armour Series facing Providence at 9 a.m.
