DEKALB, Ill.- The No. 13 Western Michigan men's soccer team (11-2-1) dismantled Northern Illinois 5-0 for its second Mid-American Conference victory this year. Redshirt sophomore defender Jake Dejulio scored his first collegiate goal as a Bronco in the 81
st minute of the game to finish the scoring for WMU.
"Conditions were tough today, but the men kept their focus and earned three points on the road." Head coach
Chad Wiseman said. "Kosti scored a great goal in the opening minute, it really jump started us in the first half."
The Broncos came out firing. In the fourth minute of the game senior midfielder
Brandon Bye was able to get past a defender and send a cross far post to junior midfielder
Kosti Moni who smashed it into the back of the net to give the Broncos the early 1-0 lead.

Jay McIntosh put some heavy pressure on Northern Illinois' back line forcing a turnover which lead to an easy goal for McIntosh.

Tommy Clark made some moves past a NIU defender and was able to get a ball near Bye who headed it into goal.
Minutes before halftime Bye served a ball into the box that hit off a NIU defender and went in for an own goal.
The last goal of the game came in the 81

Jake Rufe took a shot from 25-yards out that was saved but fell right to Dejulio who was able to beat the goalkeeper low near post.
"Congrats to Jake Dejulio on scoring his first collegiate goal. That's a moment he will never forget." Wiseman commented. "It was nice to have Drew back in the lineup today, his leadership is priceless."
WMU returns home for its next game on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. to play University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
