Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Ties Bowling Green on the Road, 1-1

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- Western Michigan senior midfielder Edu Jimenez scored the game-tying goal with seven minutes left in regulation, as the Broncos battled Mid-American Conference foe Bowling Green to a 1-1 draw Saturday evening on the road.

Five of Western Michigan's last six games have gone into extra play, including four that were decided by double overtime.

The Broncos' record moved to 8-4-3 (0-0-2 MAC) on the season. Bowling Green is now 8-3-2 (1-0-1 MAC).

How it Happened:
Chris Brennan gave Bowling Green a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute with his fifth goal of the season, capitalizing on a miscue by the Bronco defense. It was just the 13th goal allowed by Western Michigan over 15 games this season.

Western Michigan took four shots in the first half and nine in the second but weren't able to break onto the scoreboard until late in the game. Jimenez buried his third goal of the season, fourth career, in the 83rd minute. Jimenez's shot from the top of the box was deflected in off an assist from junior Zach Bock.

The Broncos took three shots in the first overtime and two in the second, for a total of 18 shots on the day, but couldn't find the winner. WMU had 11 corner kicks in the game while BGSU had just one.

Quoting Wiseman:
"We were absolutely fantastic today," said WMU head coach Chad Wiseman. "BG is a really good team and there is a reason they have won eight games.

"In the first half we were on our front foot the entire 45 minutes. We were little faster, quicker and stronger at just about every position. We really needed to reward ourselves with a goal, we just couldn't break through. I think BG deserves much of that credit, they are very organized and their lines are tight and compact, they don't make many mistakes defensively.

"In the second half we had to weather a 10 minute period and we did. The game was a great college soccer game. We went after it in overtime but in the end a draw was probably a fair result. I am just really proud of the guys and the performance they had today. We're a very young team, tonight they all gained a lot of big game conference experience."
