Former Bronco is on Top of the World

FRANKFURT, Germany - Charles Missant and the Frankfurt Galaxy recently won the Yellow Strom World Bowl XIV over the Amsterdam Admirals, 22-7.  Missant, a center for the Galaxy, has kept a diary throughout the 2006 National Football League European League (NFLEL) season for www.NFLEurope.com.

His last entries for the season recap the excitement of playing in and winning World Bowl XIV.  Every passage regarding the week of World Bowl XIV can be read here.

Behind Missant the rest of the Galaxy offensive line, Frankfurt rushed for 175.3 yards per game this past season.  The team set an NFLEL record for most team rushing yards in a season with 1,753.  The Galaxy amassed 269 yards on the ground in the championship game.

The first year center spoke with the media after the victory and commented on the success of his team's running attack.  "We just needed to keep pounding.  We started off slow, but coach kept calling run plays.  That put it on us offensive linemen to get the job done.  Butchie Wallace and Roger [Robinson did a fantastic job once again out there hitting holes.  Amsterdam just got tired.  I thought we wore them out, and that was our goal going into the game.  We wanted to stick with the running game, and we did that."

For his efforts, Wallace was World Bowl XIV MVP, an honor he could not have garnered with the assistance of Missant and the rest of the Frankfurt offensive line.

Missant was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on April 10, 2005 but was released prior to the regular season.  He re-signed with the Jets organization on Jan. 9, 2006 and was allocated to NFL Europe.

He was a three-year letterwinner for Western Michigan, appearing in 825 career plays, 815 to lead the offensive line in 2003.  Missant appeared in 38 games as a Bronco, making 12 career starts.
