Kahn's Brace Helps WMU to 3-0 Win at IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team earned its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory at IPFW on Friday evening.

After a scoreless first half the Broncos quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Emma Kahn. Tiffany Buckler later added the third goal of the game to seal the win. Stephanie Heber needed to make just one save to earn her first shutout of the season as WMU limited the Mastodons to just three total shots.

"IPFW competed very hard and made things very difficult on us in the first half," said head coach Nate Norman. "I really like the way they responded in the second half to take control of the game. We had better energy and the passes connected better."

Kahn got her first tally of the season in the 51st minute. The sophomore forward received a pass from Lacey Zah and finished in the near corner of the net.

Kahn stuck again in the 59th minute after a blast from the top of the box into the upper-right side of the goal to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.

Buckler finished off the scoring in the 78th minute after winning a loose ball and lobbing it over the keeper for her first collegiate goal.

Western Michigan continues on the road at Illinois-Chicago on Sunday at 3 p.m.
